My audience needs to get the best of the song.
I am dedicated to give the most truthful performance possible.
Alice was born into a family where everyone played at least the piano and sang. After graduating from an academic high-school in Prague, she studied English and American Studies and Linguistics at the Charles University in Prague as well as piano at the Conservatory of Jaroslav Ježek. She was then lured into jazz and singing, which are her number one priority.
Recently, she has collaborated extensively with the hammond organ player Jan Korínek and the Groove band (with whom she has recorded a CD named Our Kind of Blues) as well as with the jazz Sextet of the swing pianist Jirí Polydor. Virtually since its inception, Alice has been a member of her brother's Momentary Filmic Orchestra (Okamžitý filmový orchestr) and has recorded a number of his compositions with him, including the quasi-baroque aria in Miloš Forman's Goya's Ghosts. She has been a member of the Original Prague Syncopated Orchestra lead by Pavel Klikar, a band possessing the uncanny ability to revive the style of the 1920's and 30's early jazz and dance music and to transform it into a contemporary, yet authentic sound. Alice translates from and into English, which has become her second original language, without which her music is incomplete. An example of her lyrics in English "Born of Water" can be found on an album by DJ Kubátko, which won the Andel Prize for electronic music in 2010.
With every heart beat I turned about
To look for angels I'd left behind
To look for roses in bloom that never die
Then in my head I heard
Bubbles around, so soft
Still see you there as if today
They’re gently pokin' my heart
And fill every moment with joy
Out of the
Sweet water
You came
So peaceful
The world of all senses anew
Smelling and touching and seeing and hearing
Tasting is what pulls you through
On and on, on and on, on and on
Dreaming of summertime
Of many days spent together
Now I'm the one asking why
Hush, little baby, don't cry
The world of all senses anew
Smelling and touching and seeing and hearing
Tasting is what pulls you through
On and on, on and on, on and on
